Que Blackout Youth Theater Home

Mission Statement

Que Blackout Youth Theater is dedicated to empowering young individuals through a comprehensive program encompassing stagecraft, performing arts, and media arts. Our goal is to transform the creative ideas of underprivileged youth into tangible reality, while also fostering the development of essential life and learning skills.

Our Story

Que Blackout Youth Theater was established in 2020 by the visionary Alvin "AJ" Lockett, who sought to create an enriching environment for young people to unlock their artistic potential. Initially launched in a church setting, AJ began by teaching young individuals the intricacies of operating soundboards and lighting equipment, fostering a hands-on understanding of production.

Since its inception, Que Blackout has blossomed into a dynamic and comprehensive performing arts and media arts program, providing a creative outlet for youth to explore their talents and develop skills in various artistic disciplines. This growth has allowed the organization to provide comprehensive training in acting, stage production, video editing, and more, enabling participants to engage with various forms of artistic expression. The organization has cultivated a vibrant community dedicated to creative expression and personal growth through engaging classes and performances. Que Blackout fosters a supportive community where young creatives can collaborate, gain confidence, build lasting friendships, and hone their craft. The program emphasizes technical skills and encourages creativity, teamwork, and personal development, making it a vital resource for youth. Que Blackout stands as a testament to the transformative power of the arts in the lives of young people.
